Crop a scene with a Clip Box

Place and resize a clipping volume to isolate the part of a scene you need.

Before you start

Open a workspace scene in the 3D Editor.

Who can do this

Members with Editor access. Editing actions depend on your role and the shared view permissions.

Steps

  1. Choose Crop in the Editor mode toolbar, or choose Clip Box from the available Editor tools.
  2. Place the box in the viewport. Select its Clip Volume item in the Outliner.
  3. Use the scale or transform handles to fit the box around the area of interest.
  4. In the Inspector, review the clip Effect Type when you need a different clipping behavior. Save the scene.

What you should see

The clip box changes which scene content is shown inside its bounds.

If something goes wrong

  • If the scene looks empty, check the clip box position, size, and Effect Type.
  • A clip box can affect a POI export, so verify the crop before starting an export.
