Compare a scan with a model in Deviation mode

Inspect live signed variance, set tolerance, choose reference models, and mark observations.

Before you start

Open a scene with a scan and a reference model in the desktop Editor.

Who can do this

Members with desktop Editor access; changing comparison settings or adding markers needs annotation access.

Steps

  1. Exit any active POI, then choose Deviation in the mode toolbar.
  2. Set Tolerance, display unit, and Maximum distance in the Live variance panel.
  3. Use All visible models or select individual reference models. Adjust Reference opacity to inspect the comparison.
  4. Wait for the processed-points count to advance. Choose Add marker to record an observation at a location, then save.

What you should see

A color comparison shows signed scan-to-model difference and any added marker appears in the scene.

If something goes wrong

  • Deviation is unavailable inside a POI; exit the POI first.
  • If no models are loaded or the comparison reports degraded status, check visible model assets and the displayed status message.
